Does vaken use AI? Which one?

Yes. vaken uses DeepSeek — chosen because it produces readings that feel human and specific, not templated. The AI never sees your identity. It only sees your question and the hexagram your coins generated.

Why does it cost money?

Because the free ones are either ad-supported, treat the I Ching as a toy, or generate generic junk. vaken costs $9.99/month or $79/year because that lets us use quality AI, keep your data private, and not show you ads.

Is there a free version?

Yes. Free users get 3 readings per day with no account required. Anonymous users get 1 reading per day. Paid subscribers get unlimited readings.

Can I read other people's readings?

No. Each reading is private. vaken is designed for personal use — your situation, your reading, your insight. There is no social feed, no sharing, no like buttons.

What if I get the same hexagram twice?

The I Ching says some situations recur because you have not fully understood them the first time. Getting the same hexagram twice is not a glitch — it is a signal. Pay closer attention. If you get it three times, do something different.

Can I use vaken for business decisions?

Some of our subscribers do exactly this. The I Ching was originally a political and strategic text — used by rulers and generals, not mystics. It is not a replacement for data. It is a complement to it.

Does vaken have an API?

Not yet. vaken is a direct-to-consumer product. If you are interested in using the I Ching framework in your own application, reach out. There is no self-serve API at this time.

What vaken is

vaken is an online divination tool. You ask a question, the system casts a six-line hexagram from the I Ching (the Chinese Book of Changes), and an AI model generates an interpretive reading.

This is for personal reflection and entertainment. The readings are not professional advice. They are not medical, legal, psychological, or financial advice. Do not use vaken as a substitute for licensed professionals when you have a serious problem.

Your account

You can use vaken anonymously (limited daily readings) or sign in with your email address. By signing in, you confirm that the email is yours and that you are at least 18 years old.

Keep your email account secure. Anyone who can read your email can sign in to vaken as you, since we use magic-link sign-in.

Pricing and billing

vaken has a free tier (limited daily readings) and two paid tiers, priced in USD:

Monthly — $9.99 per month, billed monthly until you cancel.
Annual — $79 per year, billed once per year until you cancel.

Payment is processed by Stripe. You authorize Stripe to charge your card on the recurring schedule above. You can cancel from your account at any time, or by emailing us.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Abuse the service (e.g., automated scripts, bypassing the daily limits, attempting to disrupt the service for others).
Use vaken to harass, threaten, or harm anyone, including by submitting questions that target specific real people in harmful ways.
Try to extract, copy, or resell our system prompt, the AI’s outputs, or other proprietary parts of the service in bulk.
Use the service in a jurisdiction where divination services are prohibited.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. If you had a paid plan and we terminate you for abuse, we won’t refund the unused period.

Content ownership

You own the questions you submit. We own the system prompts and the software. The AI-generated interpretations are licensed to you for your personal use; you can share screenshots and quote them, but please don’t republish them in bulk as your own work.

Disclaimer of warranties

vaken is provided “as is”. The AI may generate text that is inaccurate, awkward, or unhelpful. The hexagram casting uses pseudo-random number generation; treat outcomes as symbolic, not as oracular truth. We do not guarantee that the service will be available without interruption.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to vaken is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including any decision you make based on a reading.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes will be handled in Malaysian courts.

Changes

We may update these terms occasionally. The effective date at the top of this page is the latest. If we change something material, we’ll email signed-in users.
